Cycle along quiet roads through fishing villages, rice fields, coconut groves, and fertile farmlands while experiencing everyday life in South India. Chennai

Upon arrival at Chennai International Airport, you will be met by our team and transferred to your hotel. Check in to a restored heritage bungalow turned boutique hotel. After settling in, explore Chennai’s vibrant neighbourhoods, historic churches, and colonial landmarks, discovering the blend of Tamil, British, and trading influences that shaped the city.
Day 2
Chennai to Mahabalipuram Via Kanchipuram
Activity: Kanchipuram Visit

Today’s journey follows predominantly flat terrain as we drive to Kanchipuram, a city home to many ancient temples. We visit the Kailasanathar Temple, an ancient Hindu temple from the Pallava period. We then visit a traditional silk-weaving family and see how Kanchipuram’s famous silk sarees are made. After lunch, we travel to Mahabalipuram, a historic coastal town on the Bay of Bengal. By evening, we arrive at our beachside resort and settle in.

Mahabalipuram
Activity: Cycling and Mahabalipuram Guided Sightseeing

Today, we explore Mahabalipuram and its surroundings, passing through coastal landscapes, rice fields, rural villages, and cashew groves. Along the way, we visit the Shore Temple, ancient cave sanctuaries, large bas-reliefs, and remarkable examples of rock-cut architecture. Today's cycling distance is approximately 40 km, with predominantly flat terrain throughout.
Day 4
Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry

Cycle south along the quiet roads of the Coromandel Coast, passing coconut groves, fertile farmlands, salt pans, colorful temples, village markets, and local communities that offer a glimpse into rural Tamil Nadu life. The ride covers approximately 50 km on flat terrain. After the ride, we drive to Pondicherry, known as the French Riviera of India, and check in to a Franco-Tamil heritage property.

Pondicherry
Activity: Pondicherry Guided Sighteseeing

Spend the day exploring Pondicherry’s French quarter and waterfront. Walk through quiet streets lined with old colonial homes, stop by small craft shops and local markets, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this coastal town. Later, we visit Auroville, an experimental international township established to promote human unity and sustainable living. We then return to the hotel for the evening.

Pondicherry to Kumbakonam
Activity: Cycling and transfer

After breakfast, we drive out of Pondicherry before beginning our cycling journey. Pedal through fishing settlements, stretches of salt flats, coconut-lined countryside, and agricultural landscapes en route to the Cauvery Delta. The ride covers gently rolling terrain throughout the day. By early afternoon, we reach Kumbakonam and settle into a luxury heritage resort.
Day 7
Kumbakonam
Activity: Kumbakonam Sighteseeing

Explore Kumbakonam, a town renowned for its temples, traditions, and cultural heritage. Among the day's highlights is the Airavatesvara Temple, a remarkable Chola-era Hindu temple. Meet local bronze artisans and see how these sculptures are made using age-old methods. Enjoy a cup of Kumbakonam Degree Coffee before a bullock cart ride through the surrounding villages. By evening, head back to the resort for some relaxation.
Day 8
Kumbakonam to Thanjavur
Activity: Cycling and visit Thanjavur Temple

Ride to Thanjavur through lush rice paddies, irrigation canals, and peaceful villages. The terrain is flat throughout the day, with a cycling distance of approximately 50 km. By early afternoon, we reach Thanjavur and visit the famous Brihadeeswara Temple, a masterpiece of Chola architecture. We then check in to a comfortable hotel and relax.
Day 9
Thanjavur to Chettinad
Activity: Cycling and Heritage walk
Hotel: Chettinad Mansion
Meals: Breakfast,Enroute Lunch & Dinner

Leaving Thanjavur behind, we ride through wetlands, agricultural landscapes, and the villages of Alangudi and Arimalam en route to Chettinad. The terrain is gently rolling throughout the day. Chettinad is known for its grand 19th-century merchant mansions, Athangudi tiles, and distinctive cuisine. We then arrive at a restored heritage property for an overnight stay. Later, enjoy a heritage walk through Chettinad’s grand mansions. Back at the hotel, those interested can take part in a traditional cooking class showcasing the region’s cuisine.
Day 10
Chettinad to Madurai
Activity: Cycling through wetlands

The route to Madurai passes through wetlands, palm-lined countryside, and rural villages before reaching one of South India’s oldest cities. The terrain is flat, with a cycling distance of approximately 50 km. Afterward, transfer to a luxury heritage resort designed by renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, blending traditional Tamil architecture with contemporary comfort.
Day 11
Madurai
Activity: Madurai Guided Sightseeing
Hotel: Heritage Madurai
Meals: Breakfast,Enroute Lunch & Dinner

Today, we discover Madurai and visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple, renowned for its Dravidian architecture, intricate sculptures, and colourful towers. We then walk through the bustling bazaars, filled with flowers, spices, textiles, and street food, before ending the day with an auto-rickshaw ride through the old town and attending an evening temple ceremony. Afterwards, return to the hotel to relax for the evening.
Day 12
Departure from Madurai
Activity: Airport drop
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, transfer to Madurai Airport for your onward flight. As your journey comes to an end, take with you lasting memories of South India’s rich culture, historic temples, rural landscapes, heritage towns, and the warm hospitality encountered along the way.
